This creative dinner plate is a fun way to get little kids thinking about what makes up their meals. This activity creates an opportunity to open the conversation about where their food comes and trying new things.


Age 2+


What you need

Glue stick

Piece of paper

marker pen

cut out pictures of food


What to do

Grownups: First cut out pictures of food either from magazines, printed from the internet or hand drawn by you.

Draw a plate on piece of paper with a marker pen.


Kids: Choose foods to make a delicious meal on the plate.


Talking points for grownups Talk about what the foods are and why they are good choices. Ask if there are unfamiliar foods they can see and would like to try.
